Where russian cameras came from?

First step in building the Russian Camera industry was made in the mid 30's, at the thick of the Stalin's purges. He have ordered to make a copy of the Leica II that met all of the quality standards of the original Leica. It was called FED (after Felix Dzerzinsky) and another copy was called Zorki. To the end of the WWII their issuance was several times more than Leica itself have produced ever. During the world war Soviet engineers have designed their own cameras and lenses. Them was given the name "Zenit" and they were produced at the largest camera factory in Krasnogorsk. These specially designed cameras were constructed strictly for the Government needs. Many researchers have prooved their superiority to German and Japan analogs.

It has a 28mm lens that rotates through 120, f-stops 2.8-16, shutter speeds 1/500 to 1/2 sec. On the top of the camera is a bubble level that is mirrored into the widescreen viewfinder, to ensure that you get a straight horizon.
